ILL BEHAVIOUR FILM PROJECT

We’re hoping you can help us as an interview subject for a short film experiment. We’re Mark Oldfield and Simon Mooney, working together as the production company Ill Behaviour.

As friends and neighbours, we have a shared history of music and clubs going back to the 1980s. Over the last couple of years, we’ve been out almost every weekend to some of the best places in the country to hear dance music. We can’t think of anything better to do with our time.

We’ve discovered young DJs like Che Wax and Minsky & Hum and shuffled around to David Holmes and Sasha and many others. We’ve had a great time at places like the Golden Lion in Todmorden, Hidden in Manchester and Distrikt in Leeds.

In the process, a community of around 20 people has come together to regularly support venues and DJs and contribute to the thriving dance music scene in the north of England. We’ve been very pleasantly surprised just how accessible it is to the more mature enthusiast and just how important veteran DJs are.

Simon is a photographer/ filmmaker and Mark’s a dance nerd and former DJ. We’d love to tell the story of the people and places that give life to the scene. Simon’s worked behind-the-scenes extensively in football and would like to use this experience to show DJs in particular from this perspective.

We’d also talk to the other people who make it all happen, like promoters, bar staff and punters. Some music from events would underpin the soundtrack.

Dancing element…

The films below demonstrate how we work with people, our approach to photography and editing andour relaxed approach to interviews.

Please email Mark if you’re happy to talk or call him on 07939 046693.

Thanks and we really hope you can help.

More short films.
The first shows how we’d approach the dancefloor element, more of an impression than a record. Others are about football, education, the arts, music and the community.
